Inspired by the musical vibrancy of "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" and the personal turmoil explored in "Passing," "Mixed Blues" explores the tumultuous life of Jennifer Calloway, a talented singer in 1920s St. Louis, caught between her identity and aspirations.

Logline

Set against the vibrant jazz-blues scene of 1927 St. Louis, Jennifer Calloway, a fair-skinned Black woman passing as white, faces her concealed heritage when her newborn's appearance threatens to expose her true identity, jeopardizing her celebrated career as a jazz singer and compelling her to confront the divided loyalties of her past.
